My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and am now a writer who has

published three books including South Korea: Our Story by Daniel Nardini.

                                   If history serves memory, what we see today is simply a mere propaganda

ploy by the North Korean government to make South Koreans believe that peace is at hand and that

there can be any confederation between the two Koreas. But history has shown us a very different

course of reality. We must remember that North Korea started the war by invading South Korea, and

we must remember that from 1966 to 1969 North Korea had a virtual war against South Korea in the

Demilitarized Zone. As if this were not enough, we must remember that North Korean agents tried to

kill the South Korean president in Burma in 1982, bombed a Korean Air airplane in 1987, has

committed all kinds of aggression in the Demilitarized Zone, attacked and sank the Cheonan, attacked

the island Yeonpyeong, and has consistently tested nuclear weapons as well as missiles. This is why I

believe it is necessary to create a museum dedicated to doc-umenting the crimes and acts of

aggression against the Republic of Korea because this has been a consistent reality with North

Korea and nothing the North Korean government has done has shown anything to the contrary.

What North Korea is trying to do is carry on a campaign of disinformation as well as propaganda

to make many South Koreans believe that it is for peace and that its trickery will make a real

difference in bringing peace to the Korean peninsula. The reality is that a country that enslaves

its own people, that locks them up in slave labor camps for their political and religious beliefs,

and that denies them not only the basics of freedom but also the necessities of life is not a

a normal country. This is why a museum dedicated to teaching about North Korean aggression

is needed and especially needed to teach the young people the truth of the enemy we face.
